During my Senior year at the University of California Davis, I was a contract reporter for The California Aggie student newspaper. On my first day, my editor asked me what I knew about the Peace Corps. I told her about how I used to watch the 1980s public service announcements (PSAs) featuring a motley crew of Volunteers serving overseas and that I always loved the slogan “The Toughest Job You’ll Ever Love”. “Great,” she said. “Here’s a press kit. Your first assignment is to interview the campus Peace Corps recruiter and write an article about recently returned UC Davis alumni.” read more
